Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE is the Founder and Grandmaster of UNIVERSE KARATE MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY OF INDIA which has 22 states operations in India and 7 Countries abroad. He was Graduated in Economics from the Madras University.
Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was born in 1950 in Sattur town of Virudhunagar Dt in Mumbai. From the age of 10 Srinivasan had passion for fighting arts. He started learning boxing from the age of 10 from a boxing gymnasium in Madras. He also started learning Taekwon Do from a Malaysian Master and Karate from a Vietnamese Master at the age of 15. From the age of 18 to 24, Srinivasan learned judo and continued to learn karate as well. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE participated in many karate and judo demonstrations along with his Masters in and around Madras.
At the age of 27, Srinivasan moved to Hyderabad the Capital of Andhra Pradesh to teach Karate in schools and colleges. To popularize his karate Srinivasan had given many karate demonstrations in all major towns in India including Nagpur, Bhopal, Kota, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Delhi. In 1982, Srinivasan started karate classes in New Delhi YMCAs and gave karate lessons through SUN Magazine a popular national magazine for youngsters during that time. He had given 60 major karate demonstrations and retired from stage shows in 1983 to concentrate ,more on training and teaching his students. His major item was breaking a huge ice bar with his forehead as the first item(broken 55 ice bars in 60 major shows). Other interesting items include chopping of hanging bricks, putting off four flaming candles with a single punch, lighting a candle with a round house kick and putting off the candle with a spinning kick and performing the double nunchaku kata blind folded.
Seeing his rigorous training and enormous interest in karate, Grandmaster Chew Choo Soot invited him for a special training in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. In 1979 Srinivasan underwent a three months advanced training in Malaysia and returned back to Hyderabad with a coveted Black belt Shodan from Karate Budokan International. He started developing KBI throughout India and became one of the most favourite International students of Grandmaster Chew Choo Soot. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE travelled to Malaysia almost every year for his training and stayed for longer durations and thus achieving black belt Nidan and Sandan in 1980 and 1981 respectively. In 1980 Srinivasan organized the first International Open Karate Championship in Hyderabad which attracted 5 countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
In 1983, Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was awarded black belt 4th Dan in American Tae kwon Do and in 1984, black belt 5th Dan in Okinawa Te from U.S.A. In 1985, Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was appointed as the Director of Operations by the President of World Karate Association Mr.Howard Hanson. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE attended the WKA World Convention in Brussels, Belgium in 1985.
In 1986, Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE started his own karate style the Binoryu Karate as he felt that India being the birth place of many martial arts, an exclusive karate style from india was justified. In 1993, the Binoryu Karate was recognized by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council U.S.A. In recognition for introducing the new karate style from India, Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was awarded the” Hall of Fame World Achievements Award ” in 1994. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was also awarded the “Hall of Fame Grandmaster of the Year Award” and “World Poineer Award” by the WHFSC in 1997 and 1999 respectively in U.S.A.
Awards were never a hurdle for his personal training and Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was looking for great masters in the world for his individual training in traditional karate which has been his passion right from the beginning. As such Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE was pleased to receive an official invitation from the Legend of Shotokan karate Tetsuhiko Asai from Japan. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE underwent an advanced training in Japan Karate Shotokai at the international training programme under Tetsuhiko Asai in New Zealand in 2003. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE said that the training he got under Asai Sensei was the turning point in his life.  He also got the direct recognition and affiliation from Asai Sensei for his Japan Karate Shotokai-India (JKS-India).
Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE’s quest for learning under great masters continued relentlessly. In 2004 Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE had undergone a special training under Grandmaster Clement Soo the legend of Malaysian karate. Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE also received Black belt Seventh Dan from the All American Shotokan Organization.
In 2008, Mr. SHIVAJI DHAWALE got direct recognition and membership for his karate styles from the All India Karate Do Federation which is recognized by the World Karate Federation, Indian Olympic Association, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India.
